MBABANE – KPMG has been granted a tender valued at E230 000 to benchmark SRA salaries with other public and private sector entities.

According to an online search engine called Shopify, benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company’s products, services, or processes against those of another business considered to be the best in the industry, also known as ‘best in class’. The point of benchmarking is to identify internal opportunities for improvement.

In the process of benchmarking their salaries, KPMG will use a market- based approach to design SRA’s remuneration structures (management, non-management and scarce skills remuneration structures).

Expression

According to tender evaluation results issued by the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) following an expression of interest to conduct the salary benchmarking with comparable public and private sector entities, KPMG emerged as the best evaluated tenderer with a score of 97.6 per cent.

The reputable audit firm ought to have competed against LCC Capital, which was disqualified for failing to submit a tax clearance certificate which rendered them ineligible for the job.

Submission

The agency had earlier announced that a period of 10 working days would be allowed for the submission of any application for review of the tender evaluation outcome in line with the Public Procurement Act of 2011. According to an impeccable source, there were no applications for review received by the authority.

In the request for proposal, it had been explained that the outcome of the exercise would be to come up with remuneration structures aligned to their task job grade structure.

KPMG will be expected to determine the cost implications of the developed remuneration structures.
KPMG will also be expected to ensure that SRA staff remuneration gets aligned with the overall organisation and its people strategy, as well as the goals and philosophy of the organisation.
