MBABANE – A premium liquor producing company has set up shop in Matsapha. The company, which originates from South Africa called Casa De Vino, will be producing mainly wine, gin and whisky at the plant where a mixer has already been installed.

Director Wynand Bezuidenhout explained that total value of initial investment in the liquor producing company based at the Matsapha Industrial sites was E4 million. He said the intention was to produce a wide range of alcoholic beverages to be distributed within the country and Mozambique.

Bezuidenhout said in the long term, the company intends to export the liquor to South Africa and Taiwan under the recently concluded Economic Cooperation Agreement with Taiwan.

In terms of job creation, he disclosed that they would employ 15 people initially and provide 70 jobs in full capacity.

Confident

“We are confident that this is a viable investment that will be grown into one of the largest exporting companies in the kingdom,” said Bezuidenhout during an interview conducted yesterday.
The director also mentioned that the core ingredient of whisky, which is to be used as a base for most of the alcohol products, will be sourced from a company based in Scottish company called Hankey Bannister.

The grapes to be used for wine production will be sourced from Stellenbosch in South Africa.
During a tour of the company premises located at lot number 244 along the King Mswati III Avenue on Wednesday, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo thanked the directors of Casa de Vino for their interest and confidence in doing business in Eswatini.

Khumalo said the ministry was delighted that Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) had facilitated the investment by Casa de Vino.
“It is encouraging to note that Casa de Vino brings value addition to our main commodity which is sugar.
