AFRITOOL SET TO GET E4.1M TENDER

MBABANE – The Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC) intends to award a E4.1 million contract to Afritool.


The contract is for the supply of drilling materials. This is according to an intention to award posted on the Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA) website, in terms of Section 45 93((b) of the Public Procurement Act No.7 of 2011.

The proposed contract price is E4 115 787.59.
The total evaluation score received by Afritool, a local company, was said to have been low cost based.


Fifteen other companies were unsuccessful in their tender bids for the contract, according to the document.
Nine of the companies were disqualified for reasons which were not mentioned. These include Sibongakonkhe Investments, Buildco Projects, Duzas Investments and Hancy Investments.


The SWSC said in terms of Section 45(2), the contract award did not constitute a contract. The company also notified all tenderers who submitted bids, that they were allowed to submit any application for review in a period of 10 working days from September 19, 2018.


The SWSC according to their website, is a body corporate duly established under the Water Services Corporation Act No.12 of 1992, as the sole provider of water services in the urban areas (water supply, and sewage treatment and disposal) and to control the abstraction of raw water from boreholes in those areas for which it is responsible. SWSC is a category ‘A’ Public Enterprise in terms of the Public Enterprise (Control and Monitoring) Act No.8 of 1989 and therefore, it is wholly owned by government.
