MBABANE – Four companies have been enlisted as best evaluated tenderers for the supply and delivery of desks and chairs in different schools across the country during the 2018/19 financial year.

In tender results of the Swaziland Government Tender Board published by the Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (SPPRA), the Ministry of Education and Training Principal Secretary (PS) Dr Sibongile Mtshali disclosed that ERG Swaziland (Pty) Ltd, Afritool (Pty) Ltd, Baobab Express Furniture (Pty) Ltd and J&D Agency Wholesalers (Pty) Ltd stood to be apportioned a share in the E2.2 million tender.

An independent analysis by the Business Desk uncovered that the largest piece of the ‘pie’ will be given to ERG Swaziland.
The company could supply and deliver 3 120 desks and chairs to an undisclosed number of Lubombo primary and secondary schools for E837 720 after scoring 99 per cent during evaluation.

The lowest share of tender number 48  titled ‘schools furniture tender’ could be granted to J&D Agency Wholesalers (Pty) Ltd who could supply 1 120 desks and chairs for E207 000 to Hhohho primary and secondary schools.
The wholesaler amassed 94 per cent during evaluation.

In terms of section 45 of the Public Procurement Act of 2011, Dr Mtshali announced that a period of 10 working days would be allowed for the submission of any application for review from the date of first publication of the intention to award contracts.

Issued

The results were issued on August 1, 2018.
“The contract award decision does not constitute a contract,” clarified Mtshali.
It should be mentioned that Marithas Investment did not make it to the list of companies which stand to be granted contracts because their prices were not competitive.

For instance, to supply and deliver 600 desks and chairs at Hhohho region’s primary and secondary schools, the company had priced their bid at E219 600 while the winning company had submitted a lower bid of E207 000.
