MBABANE – Mobile Money subscribers can now pay Eswatini National Housing Board, which owns the famous Mobeni flats among others, rent through Mobile Money.

This development takes place as Mobile Money (MoMo) month, was launched by MTN Eswatini on Monday last week at Kwaluseni, picks up steam.
Started three years ago, Mobile Money Month is a time dedicated to engage customers more on the payment platform.

It is also a time when different service providers are engaged with a view to accept Mobile Money as a form of payment.
Corporate Affairs Manager Mandla Luphondvo yesterday announced that selected tertiary institutions’ canteens will, from this month, accept Mobile Money as a form of payment.

He said the institutions would be announced by MTN shortly.
Luphondvo said MTN Eswatini is running Mobile Money awareness month for the third time having started this two years ago.

He said it was becoming part of the organisation’s culture to dedicate a month each year to extensively raise awareness on the platform that has over E153 million in circulation between subscribers and agents each month.

“About E50 million is in subscribers’ Mobile Money wallets.
“This money represents a market that business people – small, medium or developed – can tap into to stimulate uptake of their products and services,” Luphondvo stated.
