ANOTHER TOWNSHIP COMING TO EZULWINI

MBABANE – Jonker Investments intends to construct a residential township in Ezulwini to comprise of 54 units.


The township will be located at the remainder of portion 54 of farm number 51 along the Mantenga/ Gables secondary road, behind the Gables Shopping Complex. It stretches from the Ezulwini Bible Centre to Mantenga Lodge at the site which measures approximately 40 hectares.


It has been explained that the project entails cutting up of 54 residential plots with associated infrastructure, including one open public space, unused space and internal access roads with storm water drainage. It was also mentioned that water and sewer reticulation would be provided as well as power and telecommunications.


In accordance with the Swaziland Environmental Authority (SEA) Environmental Audit, Assessment and Review Regulations of 2000, members of the public were invited to a scoping meeting on Wednesday for unpacking information about the project. The meeting, convened at the Mantenga Road junction, was also intended to give interested and affected parties an opportunity to voice their concerns regarding the project for eventual input to the Environmental Impact Assessment.

At Ezulwini, the International Convention Centre and Five Star Hotel being constructed by the Kukhanya, Inyatsi and Stefanutti Stocks (KISS) Joint Venture valued at over E2.5 billion is ongoing. On the opposite direction of the state of the art hotel and convention centre, is the almost complete Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) headquarters which was projected to cost E400 million. The principal contractor is Stefanutti Stocks and the Project Managers are APM Consulting while MA Consulting Engineers takes care of the engineering aspect. 


On another note, a multimillion office park and shopping complex is also being constructed by MA Properties.
The property, which sits on 8 000 square metres plot opposite Corner Plaza, comprises of 15 double storey office spaces and a retail centre to be operated by OK Foods as anchor tenant.


The structure to be completed in November is already 60 per cent complete. The construction tender was awarded to the Mbhilibhi Group while Project Management is undertaken by professionals from MA Consulting Engineers. The total number of jobs created was about 200 people.
Also at Ezulwini, the upsurge for leisure and conferencing facilities prompted Happy Valley to construct an additional 60 rooms worth E73 million.
