MBABANE – Maphanga Mitchell and Associates and SEDCO is expected to enter into a contract before the end of this week.
This follows the non-receipt of objections after the company was shortlisted to manage the rehabilitation of the Nhlangano SEDCO Estate, a project whose bid price was priced at E512 480.16.

In results issued by the Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (SPPRA), it was disclosed that the company emerged victorious with a total evaluation score of 81.9 per cent despite that Steve Hall Development Consultants was higher with 84.2 per cent.
The Steve Hall Development Consultants bid price was E575 000.

Swaziland Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO) Managing Director (MD) Dorrington Matiwane disclosed logistics were in order to have the contract with the consultant signed in the next few days.
“We are going ahead with the project since there were no objections received during the 10-day working period,” said Matiwane during an interview yesterday.

Matiwane was referring to section 45 of the Public Procurement Act of 2011 which stipulates that a 10-day period should be allowed for any tenderer to submit any applications for review soon after completion of the tender evaluation exercise.

The CEO had earlier explained that their intention was to rehabilitate all their estates across the country. He said soon after completion of the Nhlangano project they would follow with Manzini and then proceed to Sidwashini.
“The intention is to attract more entrepreneurs to utilise our estates to conduct business.

However, due to the dilapidating state at some of the estates achieving same has been a challenge,” said Matiwane.
The MD further mentioned that health concerns had also been raised due to the dilapidated state of the Nhlangano Estate which provided more reason to improve the working conditions of entrepreneurs who pay a minimal rental fee to utilise the premises.
As part of the rehabilitation process of SEDCO Estates, the company recently announced that they would construct workshops in Pigg’s Peak.
