MBABANE – The downward spiral of textile exports which come as a direct result of the AGOA loss is not deterring SIPA to invest in factory shells.

This is illustrated by the intention to award a tender to yet another company – Pots Construction for the refurbishment of another factory shell. To be specific, the on the cards contract would be for the construction company to rehabilitate roofs at Fashion International Factory shell.

Pots Construction outsmarted 10 other companies who were vying for the same tender. The others which were interested were Ubanzi Projects, Siphosabo Construction, ZMT Investments, Xanco Construction, Seno/K Brothers, Avex Construction, Turbo-way Construction, Image Construction, ERG Construction and Camdel Construction.

According to the intention to award notice which the Times Business Desk has seen, Pots was awarded presumably on the basis of having the considerable lowest price among all the responsive tenderers.
It is worth noting that while Pots Construction intends doing the job for E8.9 million, ERG Construction submitted a bid price which was double to what Pots submitted.

ERF submitted a bid price of E19 085.68. Coming after Pots in terms of high bids were Image Construction (E15 200 642.04), Turbo-way Construcion (E13 141 485.61), Avex Construction (E11 288 972.27), Seno/K Brothers (), Xonco Construction (E10 046 44.23), ZMT Construction (E9 932 864.98), Siphosabo Construction (E9 917 202.17) and Ubanzi Projects (E8 921 696.24).
The intention to award Pots Construction the roof rehabilitation tender comes soon after the investment promotion authority awarded a similar tender to ZMT Investments at E6.9 million.
