Tum's George back to The George Hotel
MANZINI – The good old days have come back when The George Hotel will be revived in a few weeks time.
This follows businessman, and new owner of the hotel, Moses Motsa’s application to the registrar of companies in which he seeks to change the ‘Tum’s George Hotel’ to the ‘George Hotel’.
The Registrar of Companies, Gibson Ndlovu, confirmed that, as soon as the process is finalised, Motsa will be granted permission to use the new name.
Ndlovu said they had run an advertisement and were currently awaiting responses. He said as soon as the responses are brought back, they would release the permit. Motsa, who was in Johannesburg yesterday, said he applied for the change of name after finalizsing all deals with the seller, Tum Du Pont, including payments.
Before Du Pont took over the hotel, it was run by Dumisa Dlamini, who used the name The New George Hotel after buying it from its initial owners, who operated under the name The George Hotel.
Motsa, a local businessman who has ventured into retail and property, purchased the Tum’s George Hotel two months ago.
The deal was entered into about two months after the end of the World Cup, which was another reason why the previous owner had purchased the New George and upgraded it to the Tum’s George in the late 2000s.
In a previous interview, Motsa refused to reveal the costs involved in the deal.
Motsa has recently switched from retail to property business. He has purchased, among other properties, the Mpaka Shopping Complex, the Makhaya Shopping Complex and the Mbabane old bus rank, which is still undeveloped.
