MBABANE – The over E45 million fleet tender issued by government will include four security vehicles purchased from Canada at a value of over E3million apiece.

The tender was issued to three car-dealer companies.
The security vehicles are being supplied by the little-known Heavy Plant Centre to government and have already been shipped from overseas.

They are expected in the country anytime soon.
The company, which has offices in Matsapha Industrial site was granted an over E12 million tender to supply these security vehicles.
Early this month, The Swazi News reported about three car-dealer companies that were awarded a E45 million tender by government to share amongst themselves without them having been engaged in an open tender format for government jobs.

Speaking to The Swazi News, the company’s major shareholder and Director Zwelithini Zulu said “These are not just your usual security cars but a specialised brand, which do not come cheap. The fact that they cost over E3 million each goes to prove the quality of the security vehicles. The value of the vehicles also includes what you we call a credit card service warrant of five years. Unfortunately I cannot give you much information on the specifications of the vehicle and which Ministry the vehicles are for, as the deal is between me and my client,” said Zulu.

Quizzed on whether this newspaper can take pictures of the vehicles upon arrival, Zulu said this can only be done once the vehicles have been delivered to his client. “I cannot stop you if you do come across the cars while at my disposal but then I cannot give you permission to come take pictures until I deliver them.

You can also forward your request to the respective ministry,” he said. CTA manager Polycarp Dlamini confirmed that they have ordered armoured cars for the police. “We are expecting police security cars to be delivered to us but then you will have to speak to the supplier for more information about the cars,” he said.
He did however disclose that the armoured vehicles are to help with cash-in-transit assignments.
