MBABANE –Jazz fans will be treated to a World AIDS Day concert with local and South African jazz musicians, courtesy of Luhambo Jazz Concept.

The up-coming event will be held on December 1, 2012, at a venue yet to be confirmed and jazz fans are requested to prepare themselves for a complete jazz experience.

Public Relations Officer for the Luhambo Jazz Concept Zitsile Maziya said preparations for the forthcoming event are at an advanced stage and a list of local acts as well as South African artists to perform at event will be released shortly after the signing of contracts.

"The event will coincide with the World AIDS Day commemoration as a means of using music and arts to sensitise and educate on the global aim to fight HIV/AIDS. At Luhambo, we are joining hands with those infected because we are all affected by the pandemic," she said.

She said the upcoming event will feature a main stage with a rotating cast of jazz acts and priority will be given to local artists.

A number of activities including informational stalls, arts, crafts and food vendors will be made available.

To date, Luhambo has successfully hosted two Sunday Jazz and Soul Sessions, attracting an estimated crowd of 1 500 jazz and soul music followers.

It has also attracted many sponsors and partnerships mainly from small businesses that are keen to align their brands with the concept.

She said the event will not only be about entertainment but will also remember those who have died from HIV/AIDS.

"Local artists are encouraged to join hands with Luhambo and make this day a successful one by coming up with a theme song for the event," she said.
