For many candidates, results day does not always bring closure. In a move that offers a second chance and renewed confidence, the Examinations Council of Eswatini (ECESWA) has officially opened the application window for the remarking of the 2025 examination scripts.

For many students across the country, this announcement represents a vital lifeline and a formal opportunity to ensure that their hard work has been accurately reflected in their final marks.

The remarking period, which covers the EGCSE, EPCSE and IGCSE curricula, commenced on February 9, 2026 and is scheduled to conclude on February 20, 2026. With only a two-week window available, candidates and parents are urged to act swiftly to meet the strict deadline.

Essential application criteria

To ensure a smooth process, ECESWA has outlined a specific set of requirements that must be met before an application is considered. Prospective applicants must provide a formal letter from their school supporting the request for a remark. This ensures that the decision is backed by educational professionals who have monitored the learner’s performance throughout the academic year.

In addition to the school letter, candidates must submit a certified copy of their national identity document or birth certificate, alongside the original copy of their statement of results.

The council has also clarified the fee structure for this service. Remarking is a detailed process and carries a significant cost that varies depending on the curriculum:

  • EGCSE and EPCSE subjects: E1 200 per subject
  • IGCSE subjects: E2 500 per subject

To facilitate ease of payment, several banking options have been provided. Payments can be made to Nedbank, FNB or Standard Bank using the specific account details provided by the council. Furthermore, in a nod to modern convenience, the council is accepting payments via MoMo using the merchant code 78891990.

For those who feel their results do not quite mirror their academic potential, this fortnight offers a chance for clarity. Whether it is to secure a university place or simply for peace of mind, the path to a second look is now open.
