The National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard) is pressing ahead with its annual farmer roadshows, with the next engagement set for the Shiselweni Region tomorrow as the nationwide programme gathers momentum.
This follows a successful launch in the Hhohho Region on March 5, 2026, where farmers turned out in impressive numbers to engage directly with NAMBoard officials and key stakeholders.
During the sessions, farmers receive guidance on planning planting schedules according to market needs, how produce prices are determined and factors that influence earnings.
The programme also addresses post-harvest loss reduction, grading standards and compliance requirements for accessing formal markets.
Other key focus areas of the roadshows are to create direct linkages between farmers and buyers, aggregators and traders, as well as facilitating mandatory EHIS registration for all horticulture farmers, which is essential for traceability and market access.
Farmers will also be introduced to the range of NAMBoard services and market opportunities available to them.
The programme, however, experienced a slight setback in the Lubombo Region. A roadshow that had been scheduled for March 12, 2026, was cancelled due to heavy rains that affected the area in the preceding week, making it difficult for farmers to attend and for organisers to proceed as planned.
In a public notice, NAMBoard confirmed that the Lubombo engagement has since been rescheduled to Thursday, April 2, 2026.
“We look forward to engaging with Lubombo farmers on the new date,” the notice stated.
Meanwhile, all eyes are now on the Shiselweni Region, where NAMBoard, together with its stakeholders, will be stationed at the Lavumisa Packhouse tomorrow.
Farmers are encouraged to attend in numbers to benefit from the information-sharing platform and interact directly with experts. The session will begin at 8:30am, with organisers expecting another strong turnout as farmers continue to show growing interest in the initiative.
