EZULWINI – Manzini Sea Birds attacker Philani ‘Mkasabuli’ Mkhonto walked away with E7 000 after being named the MTN Premier League Player of the Month for March.

The presentation took place yesterday at the MTN Headquarters in Ezulwini. It was attended by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Banele ‘Dingz’ Masondo and MTN Eswatini Brand Communications and Sponsorship Manager Phumla Motsa.

The national team, Sihlangu Semnikati, player, who was part of the squad recently eliminated from the 2027 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preliminary round by Eritrea on a 4-1 aggregate score, has shown remarkable consistency.

His ability to provide secondary assists for his teammates has seen ‘Izinyoni Zolwandle’ punching above their weight, as they compete for honours this season.

The former Mbabane Highlanders captain beat out stiff competition, including MTN Premier League defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs’ in-form striker Senzo ‘Mbhobho’ Ndlovu and Ubombo Sugar’s Siciniseko Nxumalo, whose sublime performances have kept his team shining in the second half of the season.

Notably, Ndlovu was also a contender for the February Player of the Month award, which was won by Moneni Pirates’ promising striker Senanelo ‘Juju’ Nkambule. It is also worth mentioning that Mkhonto himself was a contender for the December Player of the Month, which was eventually won by Young Buffaloes winger and Captain Bongwa ‘Logwaja’ Matsebula.
