LUDZIDZINI - His Majesty King Mswati III has reminded the nation that marriage, according to Eswatini law and custom, occurs only once.
The King made this reminder during the commissioning of a delegation of umtsimba to accompany Princess Sibahle, who is set to marry Yassin Monteiro Nunes in Mozambique over the weekend.The King stated that Eswatini law and custom provides that marriage is a one-time occurrence. He emphasised that once a person chooses to marry another, there should be no return.
“I hope everyone makes his/her decision carefully before entering into marriage because there should be no return from the institution of marriage. There is no return in marriage (akubuywa emendvweni),” he said, eliciting laughter from the delegation.
The King also reminded the nation that a husband should always be happy in marriage and should not be suspicious of his wife.
He further warned that marriage is not a testing ground for another marriage, and it is not advisable for people to return home after marriage. He expressed hope that Princess Sibahle would demonstrate respect in Mozambique, as emaSwati are known for their respectfulness.
“I have seen her lover when they paid me a visit. It is my wish and prayer that they live in peace. I also pray that God bless them with children, so that we may have grandchildren,” the King said.
He added that grandchildren are a gift from God and stressed the importance of welcoming all children, warning against discrimination against innocent children.
The King also wished for more marriages from the royal family.
