Madam,
I write this letter with a heart full of pride and optimism as a citizen witnessing the remarkable transformation unfolding in Hosea Inkhundla. It is truly inspiring to see how far this community has come since the dark and painful chapter of the 2021 unrest, during which the inkhundla centre was tragically reduced to ashes. What once stood as a symbol of despair has now been rebuilt and reimagined into a beacon of hope, thanks to the tireless efforts of leadership and support from national figures.
A recent milestone in this journey of restoration was marked by the official visit of His Majesty King Mswati III to Hosea, where he officially reopened the inkhundla centre that had been destroyed. The King’s presence was not just ceremonial, it was a powerful gesture that symbolised national recognition and solidarity with the people of Hosea. It showed that despite the past, the community is not forgotten and is in fact, part of the national agenda for development and unity.
The leadership of the new Member of Parliament, Sifiso Mabuza, the younger brother of the former Member of Parliament Bacede Mabuza, must also be applauded. Under his guidance, Hosea has made visible strides in infrastructure, social services, and community development. It is evident that he understands the deep-seated needs of the people and is committed to elevating the lives of those he represents.
One moving example of this progress was the recent handover of a two-roomed modern house to a deserving family from Nsingizini, under Hosea Inkhundla. This noble gesture, led by Princess Buhlebetive and supported by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, is a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at improving lives on the ground. It sends a strong message that development is not only about roads and buildings, but also about restoring dignity and giving hope to families who need it most.
Additionally, the official opening of the Nyakuza Suspended Footbridge on July 25, 2025, marks yet another achievement. For years, the absence of a footbridge presented countless challenges, especially during rainy seasons when crossing rivers was not only difficult but life-threatening. The bridge now stands as a symbol of progress, safety and accessibility for the residents of the area, many of whom depend on it for daily travel, school access and essential services.
These developments do not happen by accident, they are the result of clear vision, hard work and the will of the people combined with leadership that listens and acts. As someone who has witnessed the painful past of Hosea, I am thrilled to see it now blossom into a community of hope, pride, and opportunity.
It is my hope that other tinkhundla centres across the country will look to Hosea as an example of what is possible when unity, purpose, and support come together. We must also continue to hold our leaders accountable, ensuring that this momentum is maintained and that no one is left behind in the process.
Let Hosea’s story be a reminder that no matter how deep the scars of the past, with courage, leadership and unity, communities can rise again.
