TLC in a class of its own
TLC in a class of its own
Wednesday, July 30, 2025 by Director of Funduzi Forensic Services Zakhele Dlamini

Madam,

I am not a health inspector or specialist, but I am challenging anyone from all spheres of the country with better technology in procurement administration and hygiene that can match that of The Luke Commission.

When I was investigating the unfortunate situation at the Central Medical Stores (CMS) and other government hospitals and clinics, I didn’t see anything close to this. I visited all the major hospitals in the country - none is close to TLC.

With some recommendations in the Forensic Report into the procurement, acquisition and distribution of medicines to public health facilities report which look deeper into procurement, I can say the Ministry of Health doesn’t have to look far.

They need to go down there at TLC and simply copy and paste. The systems there are amazing.

I am happy that labadzala have visited this facility and advocated for its sustainability and continuation. The country, the citizens and the government of the day must do all possible to keep this institution alive, which will keep thousands of emaSwati alive.

I was also made to understand that the institution is also producing its own oxygen, which is phenomenal – actually, that’s a treasure.

It needs to be maximised to its potential and I can tell without any ambiguity, it will save the Government of Eswatini billions of Emalangeni.

You can agree with me if you know how much the country is paying to procure oxygen from outside the country.

Government should be knocking at TLC doors to utilise this infrastructure. Oxygen is expensive and essential for every health facility.

TLC is God-sent to emaSwati, we all should be grateful to have such a servant to grace our shores.  The director there is amazing, from caring to humanity. I observed the way she interacted with patients and staff. It’s so out of this world.
