MBABANE - The Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise (EWADE) has officially embarked on a new era of innovation and institutional transformation.
This follows the launch of its digital strategy on Tuesday at Happy Valley Hotel.
The landmark event, attended by all EWADE management and staff, signalled a decisive shift towards modernisation, efficiency and enhanced service delivery, firmly positioning 2026 as the year EWADE goes digital.
EWADE Chief Executive Officer, Dr Samson Sithole, described the digital strategy as a foundational pillar for sustainability and excellence in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
“This digital strategy is not merely about adopting new systems; it is about transforming how we think, how we work, and how we serve emaSwati. It marks a strategic shift towards data-driven decision-making, operational efficiency, transparency and improved stakeholder engagement,” he said.
Dr Sithole emphasised that the digital transformation journey will streamline internal processes, strengthen project management systems, enhance financial oversight and improve communication both internally and with the communities served through EWADE programmes.
Integrated digital platforms will anchor leadership in unified, real-time data, enabling faster, evidence-based decisions and improved resource allocation across projects.
Drawing on symbolism shared during the launch, Dr Sithole challenged staff to emulate the intelligence, agility and coordination of the octopus, a creature known for its adaptability and distributed intelligence. Just as the octopus’s central brain guides its eight arms, EWADE’s corporate strategy will be driven by centralised data systems while empowering departments and field teams to act decisively within their mandates. Each department, he noted, must function like a connected arm, capable of independent action yet aligned to the broader institutional vision.
“Through digital tools, simplified workflows and reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks, EWADE aims to maintain project momentum while responding swiftly to changing operational environments,” he said.
