MATSAPHA – Humanity and Christianity come like second nature to Castle Lager Premier Challenge champions Green Mamba.

The team recently won E600 000 after clinching the cup title, and they have shared some of this money with the Swaziland Conference of Churches (SCC).

The Correctional Services team channelled E10 000 to the SCC’s efforts of moving the Christian Media Centre (CMC) from analogue and usher it into the digital era.
The cheque was handed over by the team’s President and His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) Commissioner General, Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase at a ceremony held yesterday at the Matsapha Correctional Services College.

This event was also attended by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Sibusiso Shongwe.
Ntshangase explained to the minister that they took the gospel seriously as an organisation and as a team, realising the important role it plays in many people’s lives, especially prisoners undergoing rehabilitation at their various centres.

“The Christian Media Centre is doing a great job in spreading the gospel, especially by also working with us on our Christianity programmes which we hear being aired on radio. We see the good that will come of the digital migration process. The officers who play for Green Mamba have been prompted by God to make this donation towards this cause. They have realised that it was God who granted them the win and expressed that they would love to also give back to Him by donating to the (Swaziland) Conference of Churches.”

Minister Shongwe then thanked the organisation and the team for the kind gesture, bestowing blessings on the team and the organisation in his capacity as a Man of God, wishing them continued success in various endeavours.
Meanwhile, SCC Board member, Reverend Vuyiswa Mazibuko, wished Green Mamba well, further advising the players to be well-behaved and have self-respect.

She said as a mother to former Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers star, Vuyani ‘Mascherano’ Mazibuko, she was saddened each time she saw famous sports people let their careers go to waste.
