LOBAMBA – Manzini Wanderers will continue to wait for their first win of the season after being held to a 1-all draw by RSSC United yesterday night, their second consecutive draw in two league games.

Despite a bright start by a Sabelo ‘Msabi’ Shongwe inspired Wanderers, the game was dominated by the sugar-belt outfit after taking control and dictating the terms about 10 minutes into the game, but it was the ‘Weslians’ who broke the deadlock much against the run of play.
In the 23rd minute, Sandile ‘Theo’ Motsa did well to bring down a long ball inside the opposition’s 18 area box and showed his class by looping the ball over the advancing goalkeeper with a sweet reverse back heel to send the teams fans into frenzy.

Equaliser

United refused to lie down but pressed forward in search of an equaliser.
Their applied pressure paid off when trusted Wanderers goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza fumbled a cross, dropping the ball into the path of Mbuso Ngwenya who, like a true opportunist, made the chance count.
He fired a rasping shot which hit the woodwork and bounced over the goalline, 1-1.

It was ‘game on as the hosts had to struggle to keep away the spirited and unrelenting attacks by the visitors.
Ironically, it was the brilliance of ‘Nkomishi’ that kept his team in the game as United came asking questions from the restart.

Action

He was twice called into action, first producing a parrying save to deny the ever-present Fezile Mbukwane’s attempt from about six yards in the 51st minute, then diving well to deny the same player who had pulled the trigger from just outside the box.
United continued to pile pressure on the opposition with striker Ugochukwu Ohakwe and Mbukwane causing all sorts of problems for the ‘Weslians’ defence.

Penalty

Wanderers also had two penalty appeals denied by referee Thulani Sibandze and the match ended in a stalemate.
Meanwhile’, United will be happy with getting their first point in the campaign playing away from home.
