MBABANE – As the government seeks to keep its employees fit and healthy as per the Shukuma Swaziland initiative, a football league for all ministries and other departments is underway.

Government Sports PRO Elvis Khanyile yesterday announced that they would now have an official football league.
“We have an urgent meeting this Friday over the start of the league which for now will be football and later, netball will also have its own official league,” Khanyile said.

He said a meeting has been scheduled at the Public Service Ministry at 1pm and all ministries as well as other departments in government were requested to send representatives as this was an important meeting. “It will be a sponsored league but for now we wouldn’t like to reveal details on that aspect as first we have to meet and get everything in order then the rest will follow,” Khanyile explained.

Meanwhile, he said the ongoing government games would continue every Wednesday including this afternoon but these are not sponsored, instead just wellness games to keep fit.

He then appealed to members of the public to support the games as well as the football authorities in the country, especially in terms of administration of the game.
