OVER E1.1M FOR KING’S CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT

LOZITHA – This year’s sponsorship for the celebrated King’s Cup Golf Tournament has shot up to E1.132 million.


The figures which are at E1 132 500 show an increase of over E32 000 as compared to the last edition in 2012. Once again giant  mobile

telecommunications company, Swazi MTN, led the way, pumping in E300 000 towards the festivities during a sponsorship presentation in front of His Majesty King Mswati III at Lozitha Palace last night. Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC), gave out an increased E280 000 while Nedbank Swaziland donated E190 000. The former had forked out E275 000 in 2012.


At least 10 other companies also came to the party and they included Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) who donated E100 000 in their first year on board as well as Royal Swazi Spa with E155 000.

The King applauded the delegation led by Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jabulani Mabuza for the support, highlighting that staging the tournament cost an arm and a leg.

The 10th edition of the country’s biggest golf tournament will start on Wednesday. The highlight of the event will be the tee-off of the King on Friday. About 180 amateurs will take to the greens on Saturday ahead of a gala dinner.
