SIPHOCOSINI – Over 500 people bade farewell to former Mbabane Swallows PRO Dumisani Bhembe, who was laid to rest yesterday.
The funeral, which was preceded by a night vigil, was held at his parental homestead in the outskirts of the capital city.

Speaker after speaker described the late Swallows official as a loving, kind and good natured man. His love for Swallows accompanied him to his final resting place yesterday, as the bowels of the earth opened up at around 7am to swallow up one of the most influential football administrators.
Bhembe met his death when he was no longer serving as team PRO but was still a member of the team’s Management Committee (MC).

A number of Swallows officials including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sibusiso Manana, General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane and MC chairman AB Dlamini attended the sorrowful event. Also present were a number of the Swallows’ supporters led by National Supporters Committee (NSC) chairman Nhlanhla Motsa and Secretary Jackson Dlamini.
Scores of people attended the vigil, which started at around 10pm on Friday night. Most used the opportunity to express their sorrow at the passing of the former Swallows man.

The Swallows’ supporters were clad in their red and white colours during what turned out to be a very sad farewell for one who served the team with all he had.
He was a passionate Swallows man, who never missed any of his team’s games, including preparatory matches.
Bhembe was also part of the travelling officials, who accompanied Swallows to Zambia for their Champions League assignments against Zanaco and Nkana FC in the last two years.

Addressing the more or less than 500 mourners that had come to pay their last respects on the fallen team official, Swallows acting CEO Manana said they were devastated following Bhembe’s death.
“As Mbabane Swallows, I must say we have been greatly hurt and disturbed following the death of one of us.

Bhembe was a Swallows man through and through. He has been with this great team through thick and thin. Although many people may not have been aware, he was still a member of the team’s Management Committee and was active.
“We just do not have the words to describe how we are feeling now. We do pray that God will give his family the strength to soldier on even during such times. We will miss him dearly for the role he played in ensuring that Mbabane Swallows are where they are today,” said an emotional Manana.

“We are Mbabane Swallows and it is our culture to win things. We will honour Bhembe’s memory by keeping on winning. We have lost a great man. We have lost a soldier and a warrior in Dumisani. He never liked to see the team lose. He always ensured that whosoever had a role to play in the team, did it well. On behalf of the Mbabane Swallows’ directors, MC, players and supporters, we want to assure the Bhembe family that they are not the only ones who feel the pain,” he said.
