GOING BACK TO SWALLOWS WOULD BE CRAZY - ‘DAZZA’

MBABANE – Erstwhile Mbabane Swallows darling Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie has spoken out over his shunning of the team’s activities.
The enterprising former national team Sihlangu winger said he is done with the red and white ensemble.

He actually stated that returning to the team would be an insane decision and he would rather play for a lower league side because he has had enough.
He has not been training with ‘Birds’ for some time and will not play any part in their quest to clinch another Swazi Telecom Charity Cup title, and he sais: “I do not care about playing in the Charity Cup. I’m not even concerned about it.”
‘Dazza’ explained to this publication that he is not at training because his contract with the ‘Birds’ will soon expire and they have not shown any intention of wanting to hang on to him.
He also feels his love for playing the sport is also dwindling, hence he will take a break to think things over with regard to whether he wants to continue with his career or not.

Mind

“My mind is on other things, not football. Actually, my love for playing football is slowly dying. As for training, I have not been attending because my contract (with Mbabane Swallows) will be running out in about 30 days and I have not been offered a new one. My mind right now is focused on other things and not playing football, I just feel like not playing at all but I will take a few months out and think things through,” he said.

He further said the frustration of not seeing much action for the entire second half of the previous season, in which he spent most times warming the bench, at times coming in for the last 10 minutes of match, has led him to the decision to quit the capital city giants.
“It would be crazy to go back to Swallows after the situation I encountered there during the second round last season,” he stated.

‘Dazza’ adds that maybe after a few months away from active participation in the game, he would be willing to listen to offers, but sternly said not from the ‘Birds’.
“Maybe then I will consider any offers. Maybe after a few months I can go back to playing but it will not be at Mbabane Swallows. I can join any other team, even Zwicle (now Red Lions),” he said as a parting shot.

The player is leaving the team at a time when his long time friend and best buddy Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe has made a surprise return to the ‘Birds’ after he had hung his boots and quit the team last season.
On the other hand, Mbabane Swallows was not ready to offer any comment.

“For now we are focused on final preparations for the (Swazi Telecom) Charity Cup and will not comment on all the issues at the moment,” said ‘Birds’ CEO Sibusiso Manana.
