MBABANE – Ivory Coast-born defender Pacom Quenum is being assessed by Mbabane Swallows with the view to sign him.

The lanky centre back started training with the club yesterday fresh from Johannesburg. He was brought by Abel Chaklas Shongwe who is the Director of Abelsum Sports Management Company based in South Africa. This is the same company that manages former Mbabane Swallows striker Mike Mohammed who has joined Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Maritzburg United FC.

The player quickly adapted and it was his tactical discipline and vision that captivated the eyes of the about 20 supporters who watched the training. The player was playing for an elite league side in Ivory Coast and featured in last year’s CHAN qualifiers for his country before losing to Nigeria 4-2 on aggregate.

“I am happy to be here and I hope I can make the grade,” he said briefly upon arrival. Swallows trainer Siyabonga Bhembe said they were still assessing the player who had just joined them.

“It is still early to say anything about him, but the assessment continues,” he said.
His manager was full of praise for the player who he said could add value to the Swallows team. “I am not afraid to say that he has the potential to do well here and proceed to a bigger league.  We hope that he will get the opportunity that players like Mike got here,” he said.
