‘TARIBO’ BACK

MBABANE – One of Mbabane Swallows’ favourite sons, Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe, has made a resounding return to his beloved ‘Birds’.

The prolific finisher, who left Swallows amidst much controversy last season, is back and doing what he knows best – rattling the net.  He made a surprise appearance for the red and white glamour giants yesterday during their preparatory encounter against elite league side Manzini Sea Birds and scored with a fine strike, as Swallows ran out 4-0 winners in the one sided friendly game.

Bhembe, known for his lethal finishing, is expected to be unleashed on Sunday during what is expected to be an energy sapping encounter against Manzini Sundowns in the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Spectacular.

The Swallows/Sundowns encounter will precede the main clash pitting defending champions, Royal Leopard against Manzini Wanderers.
Although, Swallows have always insisted that Bhembe was their player with a running contract, his return to the team is likely to be met with exceeding joy by the throngs of the team’s faithful.

Dubbed the team’s talisman, or lucky charm, over the years Bhembe has graduated to become the team’s icon and idol until his unexpected fall out with the ‘Birds’ almost midway through the team’s campaign last season.

His departure was largely felt by the club, as the team’s forward line suffered a dip in form with the usually dependable Sabelo ‘Skhali’ Ndzinisa and Mike Mohammed losing their scoring boots until later on in what turned out to be a disastrous season for them, as Swallows failed to defend the league crown.

His arrival will give the team’s technical bench, currently headed by trainer Siyabonga Bhembe, a lot of options ahead of the clash against the ‘Kappa Kappa’ ensemble on Sunday. Yesterday, he scored alongside lanky attacking midfielder Felix Badenhorst, Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko and new recruit, Fabrice Mopani.

Bhembe, one of Swallows’ longest serving players, could, however, not be drawn to comment on his return after securing employment in South Africa recently.
