Greetings to all of you Beautiful Birds! We are about three days away from the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup voting deadline, which is Sunday midnight.

We are almost there Swai Swai. Soon we will know the top six teams that would qualify for this year’s tournament to be played on August 3 and the finals on August 10. I can assure you that it will not be easy to qualify for the tournament. It never is but with your support, we will make it.

This great team is not about to start breaking tradition and miss out on the Charity Cup. Over the years we have come to believe and know that this tournament can never be the same without Mbabane Swallows.
We are banking on you Swai Swai to up the tempo in these few hours left before voting deadline. We have to ensure we are in the top four bracket so that our juniors, the Under-20 squad, could also have the chance to participate in the tournament. Let us all adopt the new slogan that says: vote every minute, every hour and every day’. I am positive that should we do that, then we will qualify to play in the tournament because our numbers, as Swallows supporters, are incomparable to any other club.
Remember 8702 is the only number to dial!

Farewell ‘Iron Mike’

One of the most lethal strikers to have donned this famed red kit, Ghanaian Mike Mohammed, has been cleared to South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Maritzburg United. He leaves us with fond memories, the man we have all come to know as ‘Iron Mike’.
He is true testimony of what determination, hard work and commitment can do. Mike was a loyal and dedicated striker who played his part in the historical treble-winning season and will always be remembered fondly by the thousands, if not millions of supporters of this great team. At Mbabane Swallows we pride ourselves in releasing players to better and fully professional sides. It was Mike’s wish to pursue his football career in South Africa and as Mbabane Swallows we ensured that his dream became a reality. We do hope that his transfer will pave way for numerous other local stars to find new homes in South Africa and we have no doubt that Mike will hoist not just Mbabane Swallows flag as he torments defenders in South Africa but also place the kingdom on the map.
Farewell Iron Mike, we at Mbabane Swallows congratulate and salute you on your achievement.

Manqoba playing with fire

You probably saw one of our defenders Manqoba Zwane appearing in the colours of another team on Tuesday, which was a public holiday.
What can I say? Manqoba is playing with fire under a thatched roof. Whether the other team is taking Mbabane Swallows for granted we are not sure. We are, however, not taking kindly to our player appearing in the colours of another team without our consent. As a player, who has been with us for a long time now, Manqoba knows what is and what is not acceptable at Mbabane Swallows. We will deal with him accordingly. And for breaking our sacred tradition, he probably needs thorough cleansing before he can be welcome in the nest. He has disappointed this family.

We are slowly but
surely getting there

Last Sunday at the Somhlolo National Stdaium, we played a series of preparatory matches against First Divisions clubs including the newly-promoted Bad Boys.
It was an overwhelming experience as we played a total of three games on the day. I am happy to announce Swai Swai that we got the desired practise ahead of next weekend’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Spectacular. In our first game, we drew against Ludzeludze Killers 1-1 before settling for another 0-0 draw against Bad Boys.
However, our boys felt they could not leave the stadium on the day having failed to record a single win and they then came back strongly in their last game against Mbabane Citizen.  Your heroes Mkhonto KaShaka were simply too good for Mbabane Citizen, whom we thrashed 5-1. It was in that game that we showed our true potential. Our boys are beginning to gel and we remain optimistic going into the new season that we will reclaim our glory. If all goes according to plan, we will also engage in a number of friendly games even this weekend.
As per my promise, we are assembling the dream team and slowly but surely we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
We are beginning to believe. Remember, with the exception of defender Thabiso Maharala and striker Mike Mohammed, we still have the rest of the players with us. We do believe we have the team to do the business even again.
I will talk to you again next week Swai Swai and I love you all!
Shaka akashayeki!
