MBABANE – He has crossed the Rubicon! By training twice on the same day with traditional rivals Mbabane Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders, defender Manqoba Zwane has set the cat among the pigeons.

The overlapping right back first trained with his club Mbabane Swallows at the Prince of Wales Ground before showing up at Highlanders later on in the afternoon during the black and white outfit’s friendly match against relegated Midas City at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Prior to yesterday’s incident, Zwane had appeared for Swallows against Ludzeludze Killers at Somhlolo on Sunday. He has already impressed the new Highlanders Italian coach but seemed to invite the wrath of his club, Swallows.
Swallows acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sibusiso Manana said he did not want to believe that their player would appear for another team, let alone their rivals. “Manqoba was here training with us in the morning and that is why I find it hard to believe the news you are telling me. It is a pity because he has missed our afternoon training session when he is supposed to be here. As we speak, he is not among the players at training and I am worried,” Manana said.

Asked if they would take any punitive measures against the player, Manana insisted that their player would never train, let alone appear in the colours of another team.  “Like I said earlier on, Manqoba is our player, which means he has a running contract with the team. The team that was using him in the first place should know that. How can you use another team’s player? Did they follow the right procedure? That is why I am saying I do not want to believe what you are telling me,” said Manana.

Meanwhile, Highlanders PRO Sifiso Magagula referred questions to the team’s Managing Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane. “He is the one who signs players in the team. At the moment he has not told me anything with regard to Manqoba. Until I hear from him there is little one can say,” he said. Simelane could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone rang unanswered despite numerous attempts to reach him yesterday.
