MBABANE – Fourth- placed Manzini Sundowns have been dealt a crippling blow, as two of their key players have been ruled out of the crucial MTN Premier League tie against Mbabane Swallows on Sunday.

Former Swallows stylish midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze has been denied the chance to inflict pain on his former team after being nabbed by the now infamous yellow card rule. Scorer of Sundowns’ lone goal in the 1-0 win over Green Mamba in the team’s last game, Bobby Carrington has also suffered the same fate. He too will be serving a one-match suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.

Sundowns are currently placed fourth on the log standings with 31 points under their name, while the defending champions, Swallows, are second with 36 points, trailing leaders Royal Leopard by four points going into the last three games of the season this weekend.
Reached for comment on the news likely to be met with sadness by the ambitious Sundowns family, team PRO Muzi Matsenjwa said they were going to conduct their own investigations on the matter.

He, however, assured their supporters that they have capable players who will be happy to fill the void left by the two.
“Should our records indicate that indeed this is true, our supporters should know that we registered 23 equally good players. I am very much aware that we will be playing a very tough game against Mbabane Swallows but we still need the maximum points with or without the two players.

“I cannot deny the fact that their absence could have an impact because they are currently on top of their game at the moment. Bobby scored our winner in the last game, while ‘Pupu’ was controlling the midfield with ease. However, all the players at Sundowns are stars and those who do not get regular game time will grab the opportunity to play with both hands,” said Matsenjwa
Manzini Wanderers will also have to do without overlapping right back Sicelo ‘Junior’ Simelane. The hub giants host elite league rookies Manzini Sea Birds on Saturday at Mayaluka Stadium.

Green Mamba will be without skipper and sweeper, Siyabonga ‘Msholozi’ Mdluli in their tricky clash against relegation haunted Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos. Their game will be played on Saturday at Mhlume Stadium.
