MBABANE – The Swaziland National Basketball League (SNBL) 2014 season will begin on Saturday.
This assurance has been made by SNBL Commissioner Phenga Vunga.

The start of the league will see various teams from the three divisions - Elite Men’s League (EML), National Women League (NWL) and Men’s Promotion League (MPL) - in action.
“We are definitely starting the new season this weekend. The games will be played on Saturday,” Vunga stated.

While they have been battling with securing a venue, as Mavuso Sports Centre Court is unavailable, he said they were having positive negotiations with Waterford KaMahlaba College as a probable venue, they would confirm with the teams by end of business today.

Meanwhile, three new teams have registered to join the league in Mbabane ladies team Hackers, then two male teams Pacers and Celtics, who will be playing in the MPL.

The fixture has not yet been confirmed as Vunga was making final preparations yesterday, but teams will know who they face by today, and Vunga said they wanted to have most, if not all teams in action.

He then said the door was still open for teams that would like to join the league as the deadline for registration was set at April 30.
