MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows striker Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie inspired over 60 judokass during their open tournament held at Little Einsteins Pre-School in Manzini.

The former National team, Sihlangu striker was among the over 20 parents who came to support their children on the day. Christie said he took his time, as the MTN Premier League was on break, to support the children.
“I’m am a sportsman and being here is good. When we play, people come to watch us and now it is time to return the favour. All sports are equal and it is important to support children while they are still young because that is where they see the importance of playing sports. Sports help as they keep them away from mischievous deeds,” he said.

Christie said he was happy with what he saw during the competition.
Dazza was once an athlete while schooling at Salesian High School, way back in 2002. He used to run 400m.
Meanwhile, Swaziland Judo Association (SJA) President Tertius Esterhuizen said children turned out in their numbers.

“It was a good day for judo. Parents came out in their numbers to support the youngsters. The standard is good,” he said.
Esterhuizen said he was going to release the results today.
One of the kids who shone during the event was Lamu Magagula who won all her fight.
