MBABANE – Tomorrow’s SwaziBank Cup final between Royal Leopard against Young Buffaloes has set a battle between two budding friends.
National Police Commissioner Isaac Magagula and Army Commander Sobantu Dlamini do not normally talk publicly about football, but yesterday both had a word or two to say to their clubs ahead of the anticipated epic clash at Somhlolo National Stadium.

It is without any doubt that the game will be huge for the two security chiefs and the players – it is a derby that football fans witnessed during the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup which Leopard won last year. They have both given instructions to the players to go all out, enjoy and bring back the Cup saying there were incentives.

“I don’t want to make false promises but I can say that if my boys can win this Cup, they’ll get much better than they have got before and even much better if they go on and win the league too as my wish is that we sweep everything before us,” said Magagula.

He said this was a crucial match for him and the army commander hence whoever won would rejoice, something he wished would happen for him come tomorrow.
“But football is football so in the end it is the best team that wins. Right now I wish we end up being that best team and sweep this one before going on to win the league title as well. This is a derby of the titans and if my boys win it they’ll deserve much better but certain logistics are discussed after all has been achieved,” he said.

Meanwhile, his Buffaloes’ counterpart, Dlamini, said he was not under pressure to win this one and also did not want to put the players under pressure.
“I have spoken with the players and motivated them for the game. They know what kind of incentive awaits them if they win this match and bring the Cup to my office,” Dlamini said.

He said Leopard managed to beat them in the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup final last year and the players still wanted revenge. He said he expected a great game as this was one between two disciplined sides hence fairplay should prevail.
In the end the two said ‘May the best team win’ as the final takes centre stage tomorrow at 3.30pm at the country’s soccer Mecca, Somhlolo National Stadium.
