MANZINI – Army side Young Buffaloes have since lifted the suspension of their first choice goalkeeper Nhlanhla Gwebu.

The player was suspended by the team last week following his below par performance against Mbabane Swallows a fortnight ago in the semi-final of the Castle Premier Challenge Cup. The talented goal minder was immediately transferred to Mbutfu Barracks from Phocweni to serve his suspension.

However, according to a source, the team management has decided to lift the suspension. Buffaloes were on Tuesday beaten 0 – 3 by Manzini Wanderers after starting the game with striker Phiwa Dlamini between the poles with goalkeeper Nhlanhla ‘Magatuka’ Dlamini introduced later in the game.

It was gathered that the player was, however, going to miss tonight’s MTN League game against Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Ground as he is expected to resume training with the team next week.
“As the player’s suspension has been lifted, he is now free to honour his national team call-up. He will also be starting training with Sihlangu on Monday and rejoin the team later in the week,” a source said.

Buffaloes PRO Sandile Gwebu maintained that Nhlanhla’s issue was not with the team but it was an issue within the force. “Once it has been sorted out, he will be free to rejoin the team as he is our player.

He has to be released by his barracks so that he can start training with the team or the national team,” he said. Last week Buffaloes also parted ways with their coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati and suspended assistant coach Dominic Kunene in the process appointing second assistant Mandla Dlamini to be stand-in coach.
