MBABANE – Last night the PLS General Assembly decided on a harsh sentence on any club official who will assault a PLS official on duty.

The resolution states that the official should be taken to the DC which should mete out a maximum sentence of one year suspension for the official. They also resolved that any official who assaults a PLS executive committee member should get a maximum sentence of two years.

The two proposals were submitted by the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) executive committee chaired by Victor Gamedze.
The proposals had initially sought a standing one and two year suspension for offenders, but the members felt that there should be room for mitigation, so that the DC can freely rule based on the merits of the matter.

It was Piggs Peak Black Swallows chairman Charles Matsebula who submitted that the meeting should allow the matter to go to the DC for mitigation to be made, which the members approved.

In motivating the proposal, the PLS CEO Nqobile Magagula stated that it stemmed from a series of reports from stadium representatives who have been threatened by club officials including Board of Governors.
