MBABANE - Giants Manzini Wanderers could only grab E1 371.33 worth of goods during the first trolley dash at Mbabane Pick ‘n’ Pay yesterday.

The maroon and white outfit qualified for the trolley dash after managing to collect the required 5 000 votes per week.
They further walked home with a E2 000 sports equipment voucher at Mr Matata. However, the team represented by winger Sifiso ‘Mkhelele’ Vilakati failed to lived up to expectations during the one-minute dash as they were unable to get at least goods worth E2 000.

As per the rules, the player picked perishables and food items, mainly meat and rice.
Team Manager Berger Nxumalo who accompanied the player to the event said they were happy to set a trend by becoming the first team to qualify for the trolley dash.

“We’re thankful to Swazi Telecom for the opportunity. We’re looking to return next time. We appreciate getting the voucher and we want to use it to buy soccer balls and other needs of the team,” he said.
Swazi Telecom Charity cup PRO Alex Lushaba congratulated the hub giants for the achievement, encouraging other teams to embrace the voting exercise to also win big in prizes.

“We’re impressed with the voting exercise so far. Teams are reminded that they need to pump in the stipulated 5  000 votes that qualify them for the trolley dash between Wednesday and Tuesday the following week,” he said.
Teams usually get groceries of up to E3 000 during the trolley dash. The figures made by Wanderers were one of the lowest so far.
