MANZINI – Revealed!
he new dates for the 2024 MTN National First Division (NFD) games that were cancelled due to inclement weather, this past weekend at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground and Killarney Sports Ground have now been announced. The match between Lozitha Spurs and All Nations at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground was abandoned before half-time as the heavy rain, accompanied by lightning, intensified. This severe weather compelled match officials to call off the game.
The Pigg’s Peak derby between Rangers and Malanti Chiefs faced similar fate, with reports from Pigg’s Peak indicating that persistent rain and mist led to the match being cancelled before half-time as well. Speaking on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS), the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pat Vilakati, confirmed that new dates for these matches have been set.
“We have since scheduled both matches to be played next Wednesday, with venues yet to be confirmed,” Vilakati stated. According to Article 4.8 of the 2024/25 MTN NFD Rules and Regulations, should a match be abandoned by the referee due to a power failure in a match played under floodlights or due to Force Majeure (superior or insuperable force), the match will be replayed at a date, venue and time determined by the PLE. The gate receipts from the replayed match will be shared between the two clubs after deducting the percentage owed to the league, stadium and match officials.
