‘SAVI’ BOOST FOR SIHLANGU
MBABANE – The senior men’s national team, Sihlangu, are set to receive a boost.
After being ruled out for two weeks, Young Buffaloes marksman Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze has reportedly been cleared to resume action. Gamedze had been given a break from football duties, after colliding with Green Mamba midfielder Khethokuhle Mkhontfo, resulting in a dislocation of his nose. This was during the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup semi-final match, which Buffaloes won 3-2, early last month.
Dribbling
Earlier reports suggested that the marksman would need a face mask to showcase his exceptional dribbling skills. He missed Buffaloes’ 0-1 defeat against Nsingizini Hotspurs, last weekend. He was also absent when they won 1-0 over Manzini Sea Birds. Nevertheless, the latest developments suggest that he has since joined the national team’s full-time camp, which commenced yesterday. Amathol’ezinyathi Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile Gwebu confirmed that Gamedze is now fit to play.
“Doctors have cleared him to play and he is expected to start training,” he said.Croatian Head Coach Zdravko Logarusic, announced a 29-man squad, which saw the return of some of the old faces. It is headlined by Royal Leopard seasoned forward Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst. Logarusic has also bolstered his defence, with Zambian side ZESCO United Assistant Captain Lindo ‘All-Trades’ Mkhonta. The head coach could not be drawn for comment at the time of compiling this report, as he did not respond to a text. This publication wanted to verify facts suggesting that all the local players had reported for camp.
Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, affirmed players were expected to join full-time camp, yesterday.
“They were scheduled to have a training session at KaLanga. However, I am still to get a report with regard to players who have joined the camp,” he said. Eswatini will take on Mozambique at Zimpeto Stadium at 3pm on Friday, October 11. The return match will be played at Mbombela Stadium at 9pm, three days later. On the other hand, Mozambique Head Coach Chiquinho Conde, has called-up a 25-man squad to face Eswatini. It is headlined by international-based players including Atletico Madrid’s defender Reinildo Mandava, Bandirmaspor’s Edson Sitoe and Sporting Clube de Portugal’s striker and Geny Catamo, among others.
