Lobamba – Eswatini is optimistic about putting up a good fight during their maiden appearance in the CAF schools tournament this week.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will stage the boys and girls Under-15s competition in Zimbabwe from Thursday to Sunday this week.In gearing up for this tournament, 20-member squad for males and 15 players for the ladies last week entered into full camp at Lobamba Technical Centre. During the media day on Saturday, the players were oozing with confidence and great anticipation for the showpiece under the guidance of coaches Thamie Dlamini and Sonnyboy Nkoma.

Pressure

“The team has been responding well to training and since we’ll be debuting, we won’t put much pressure on ourselves. We are still developing but already there’s a bright future for Sitsebe in the kids,” Dlamini, the   females teams coach said.  He also said the players easily gelled together while Nkoma shared a different perspective with the male team. “It has been a challenge as the competition found us while schools were not closed and pupils were writing exams. However, we tried to catch up with more training sessions,” Nkoma said. He further said they were banking their hopes on the experience  of some  few players who have  got international exposure to match the competition level of their opponents. The Under-15s national teams are set to leave today for Harare.
