MBABANE – It is forces teams versus Mbabane Swallows for the MTN Premier League title for the past 18 years.

This is according to statistics sourced www.rsssf.org/tabless/swazchamp.html dating back from 2004/05 season. The data reflects that only Mbabane Swallows and the forces teams were winning the league. According to the statistics Royal Leopard are the biggest winners since 2005 as they have won the league eight times. They won the league three times from 2005 to 2009. They won another treble from 2013 to 2016. They won it again in 2020/21, 2021/22. They were denied from winning a hat trick of wins by Green Mamba who won their third league title last Sunday.

The Correctional Services side also won the league in 2010/11 season and 2018/19 season. Meanwhile, Mbabane Swallows have won the Holy Grail of Eswatini football six times since 2005. They were champions during the 2004/05 and 2008/09 seasons. The Swallows of Mbabane were again crowned champions in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. They did it again in 2016/17 season and 2017/18. Since then, they have never won it. Forces sides have now made it five in a row.

Notably, Mbabane Highlanders have won the most league titles since 1971.They have won the league 13 times and are followed by Leopard on eight titles with Swallows on seven titles while Manzini Wanderers have won it six time with Green Mamba wining it three times. Other league winners are Denver Sundowns, XI Men, Milling Hot Spurs and Young Buffaloes who all have won in twice. Juventus, Mhlambanyatsi Rovers and Peacemakers have won the league once.
