SEA BIRDS DIM NSINGIZINI’S 5TH SPOT CHANCES

MBABANE – A lacklustre MTN Premier League fixture it was between Manzini Sea Birds and Nsingizini Hotspurs.

This was yesterday inside the capital city under a chilly weather at the tiny arena. With the season almost over as the two sides are now left with one match, their clash lacked the spark. This is amid the rookies Nsingizini fighting for the fifth spot currently occupied by Royal Leopard. However, after a poor display, both sides fumbled the half chances they created, particularly in the slightly improved second half. The result left Nsingizini one point shy of Leopard but should the police side beat Swallows tomorrow, the fifth place will be sealed with a game to spare.

Some handful fans walked out during half-time due to the boring first half. Both sides got some half chances towards the hour and late in the game. Sea Birds could have buried it right at the death and in stoppage time but Muzi Tsabedze was acrobatically denied by defender Pius Baffour when he had looked clear for goal. Pius used his long legs to get the ball away from the forward just in time before he brought it under control with the keeper Sibusiso Dlamini at his mercy.

In the stoppage time effort, Tsabedze was let loose by substitute Wandile Nhleko but the goalkeeper did well to recover when he looked to be beaten but the ball wasn’t too far off him and he stole from under the forward’s feet.
The visitors were also good on the ball but wayward shooting was their let-down in the final third. It was one game you could hardly point at the Man of the Match, since it needed a match winner to have one.
