MBABANE – Capital City giants Mbabane Swallows are still recovering from the shock 0-1 defeat to minnows and strugglers Tambuti.

Team General Manager (GM) Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane said they were not supposed to lose that game. Swallows suffered their third loss of the season at the expense of the sugar-belt side this past Saturday. No one saw it coming, as Tambuti are not at their best this season after suffering eight losses in 12 games. They have won only twice and drawn twice and they are on the 13th spot. To add to the situation, Coach Caleb Ngwenya was beaten by a relatively new Coach in Thandokuhle Bhembe.

Notably,  Swallows had a number of players who were not available on the day. They included Bashir Mutanda, Kabia Mohammed, Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze , Kingu Pemba and Sethu  Mabilisa. Some of these players were reportedly injured while others were serving suspension. “You see when you are signed to play for Mbabane Swallows, it means you are an equally good player. We cannot say we lost because we had injuries and suspensions. We played well and unfortunately we did not score goals,” Zwane said. He also said it had nothing to do with the scorching heat.

“We cannot blame it  on the heat or the coach. We just need to go back to the drawing board and figure out where exactly it went wrong. We will find solutions and I tell you when we start winning, we will be unstoppable,” he said. He said if they lost to ‘small teams’ they could not win the league. “We have a bad history of losing to teams that are usually relegated. We need to put this to an end. We need to see where we used to do things right and start winning again,” he said.

Meanwhile Tambuti Director Rudolph Matsenjwa said the win was important just like any other win. “We are not pressing the panic button yet about relegation. We know we are playing well only that we were not scoring goals. You need luck in this game of football,” said Matsenjwa. Swallows are currently on the fifth spot with 19 points. They have lost to rookies Nsingizini Hotspurs, Mbabane Highlanders and now Tambuti.
