MBABANE – As the MTN Premier League is expected to heat up heading towards the end of the first round early next year, Mbabane Highlanders look set to have their new kits delivered.

Like the kit they are currently using, the capital city giants expected to change to a new kit in mid-season. They got the current one along with their first set of replicas for supporters early into last season. “We still got remnants of the current replicas but have also sold more than we have in our storeroom,” said one of the team officials entrusted with the replica sale.

The official said the club’s Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe had hoped they would be having the new kits and replicas for this season by this month, ahead of the Mbabane Swallows derby fixture played before Christmas. However, Inkunz’emnyama used its current black and white stripped kit for the derby clash they won 2-1 at Mavuso Sports Centre. The new kit design for the home kit has been leaked to this publication while it has been established that the away kit, which has been largely dominated by white over the black, was still being finalised by the kit tailors in Indonesia.

Delivered

“I had said that if we’re lucky enough, we would be using a new kit against Mbabane Swallows in the derby match but it didn’t happen. Our supporters can be patient because I have been working with the overseas suppliers over having our new kits delivered sooner but we then had to change a few things on the replicas for supporters but we’ll get it in February at the latest,” Kgomongwe explained. Shown the design leaked to this publication as their new home kit for this season, Kgomongwe affirmed it and said they were now waiting for the away kit design to be finalised and sent to him for approval.

“One of the delays is due to the fact that its holidays and our replicas must come without the supporters’ inscription at the back so they can use the space to print either their own names or the name of the player each fan or supporter wants on their replica jersey,” Kgomongwe explained. He said the package was expected here by February at the latest otherwise supporters must not give up because they will get the kits they want and with the space to print their names at the back. The expected new home kit is dominated by the traditional Highlanders black then laced with white on the collar which also conjoins the stripe down the chest and back. The stripe is now wider and thicker than the previous home kit.
