MBABANE – Current log leaders Young Buffaloes proved to be a hard nut to crack for teams this year.

As the MTN Premier League takes a break until January 4, Buffaloes take an impressive record to the New Year. In the 31 official fixtures they played this year, they only suffered a single defeat against league defending champions Royal Leopard. It was a 1-3 loss back on February 10, 2022.

In the absence of sponsors, MTN Premier League teams were playing for one sponsor the whole year until the MoMo Cup last month. Buffaloes, who finished the past season ranked fourth, only played league fixtures this year as they did not amass enough votes to qualify for the MoMo Cup.

Prize

Teams that played during the MoMo Cup main day were Rangers, Moneni Pirates, Mbabane Highlanders and Nsingizini Hotspurs, with the latter claiming the E600 000 first prize. In the 31 matches they have played, Buffaloes won 21 and drew nine. This current season, the unbeaten army side are leading the charts with 19 points following five wins and four draws in nine matches. Based on the records, Buffaloes have now gone unbeaten for 27 league matches. No immediate comment could be sourced from coach Mandla ‘Stofu’ Dlamini at the time of compiling this report last night.
