Damien De Sousa, who also had a wonderful outing, won one a gold medal, a silver medal and a bronze. Swim Lab Swimming Club Coach Welcome Nhlabatsi said they were proud of the swimmers for achieving in such a highly competitive event. Nhlabatsi missed the competitions due to some personal reasons, but he said the swimmers competed and made the country proud. “Swim Lab took a team of 17 swimmers. This was a good competition for us to gauge ourselves as a club. Remember we are still off season in the country. As a coach I was very much impressed by their performances. This shows we are on the right track,” he said.

Nhlabatsi said some swimmers who improved their times tremendously even though they did not get podium finishes, included the likes of Kendra McNamara, Sbonginkosi Mthethwa, Pedro De Sousa and Tristan Way. “I was very much impressed by Luca who had five events and got five gold medals, including competition record for boys 11/12 in 100m breaststroke. Swimmers who couldn’t attend were Hayley Hoy and Siwakhile Dlamini,” he added.
