LOBAMBA – “This is one of the strongest teams that we ever played in Africa.”

This was said by Eswatini 2022 TOTALEnergies CAF Champions League envoys Royal Leopard gaffer Edwin Matsebula during a media briefing between his side and Madagascar’s CFFA, which was held at Somhlolo National Stadium Conference Room yesterday. The two teams lock horns today at the country’s ‘Mecca’ of Eswatini football, with Ingwe Mabalabala enjoying a slender 3-2 score, after beating CFFA in the first leg which was played in Madagascar last week Sunday. The award-winning Leopard mentor said their opponents were a well-organised side, which played good football. “This team plays carpet football; they are very quick when they are attacking. I must say that they are one of the strongest teams that we’ve played in CAF competition,” Matsebula said.

Preparations

He said preparations went accordingly, even though they arrived late from Madagascar as they started preparing on Thursday for the game.
“I think we are on the right track; ours is to take the game as if we’ve lost against them in the first leg. We can’t carry the win on our heads,” he said.
The former Vovovo coach said in the away match, he applied a defensive approach as CFFA was a closed book to them, but after identifying their weak spot, he changed to attacking. “I would like to divulge their weakness ahead of the game tomorrow as they would use it to prepare against us, but I know their weak and strongest points,” he said. He also said CFFA’s strongest point was their wing player who was wearing jersey number seven, which he said if they could plan well against him, they would win the match.

Rectified

Meanwhile, his counterpart in CFFA mentor Titi Rasoanaivo, through Translator Razafindrakoyo Hasina said they rectified the mistakes that they committed back home. “After correcting our mistakes, my players have promised me a good game tomorrow against Royal Leopard. I must say however, that our opponents are an experienced side when it comes to playing in CAF than us, but this will not work inside the field tomorrow,” Rasoanaivo said.
