MBABANE – Former Mhlume Peacemakers Director Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo has saved his Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee place.

With Peacemakers relegated to the regional super league, he was given 30 days by the PLE to relinquish his post or get attached to another club. According to the PLE Constitution in Article 29.1.5, if a member club to which they are affiliated ceases to be a member of the league, his position becomes vacant. Shiselweni-based side Rangers F.C. have come in to rescue his status.

Confirmed

It was confirmed yesterday that Nxumalo was now with Rangers as the team’s Board of Governors assignee. Rangers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thembinkhosi Hlandze confirmed the appointment, citing that he was roped in on the basis that he was valuable and could help improve the team and football as a whole. Hlandze also noted that they had already informed the PLE through a letter on Monday to confirm the new development. There was no immediate comment from Nxumalo, while PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati said he was not yet aware as he was out of the office. PLE CEO Kenneth Makhanya did not answer his cellphone when sought for comment.
