MBABANE – The country’s players in the ongoing COSAFA Cup have been playing under the watchful eye of top football scouts from around the world.

From this past Tuesday, South Africa has been hosting the Hollywoodbets-sponsored Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in Durban. At the time of compiling this report, Dominic Kunene’s troops were due to play their decisive clash against Lesotho.

Reports from South Africa’s pro philani (Pty) Ltd suggest that there is an unnamed scout from Dinamo Zagreb attending the ongoing regional soccer showpiece, on top of one from South Africa’s Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Dinamo Zagreb is a Croatian professional football club that usually plays in big European tournaments that include the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League and Europa League.

It could not be immediately ascertained if the unnamed scouts had shown interest in some of the Eswatini players. Meanwhile, the duo of Mbabane Highlanders versatile centre-back Peter Dlamini and attacking midfielder Philani Mkhontfo had the team of analysts from Pro Philani eating out of the palms of their hands following an impressive display. In one of the tweets by Pro Philani, the two players were dubbed as the future. “I wish they can be scouted by PSL (South Africa’s Premier Soccer League) clubs,” reads the tweet in part.
