MBABANE – Young Buffaloes ladies will not make any additions to their current squad ahead of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League to be held in Morocco.

The dates of the tournament will be announced in due course. The hosts were granted hosting rights by the football ruling body as they were the only country that submitted a bid to host the event.

competing

Eswatini will be competing against seven other countries during this continental women’s showpiece. Young Buffaloes ladies were pronounced champions of the Eswatini women’s football league after a brilliant display of talent throughout the tournament, having recorded a clean sheet in 24 games and scored a record 221 goals. Club manager Bonga Ngcamphalala said they were not eager to make any changes to their squad, as they believed that their team was highly competent. He said preparations were in order and the team had a number of preparatory games with local teams including Buffaloes’ mens team.  “We are preparing for CAF and the current developments are that we will maintain the same squad. We had planned to have international friendlies, but we are still working around that. We promise to represent the country well,” Ngcamphalala said.

commended

Ngcamphalala commended the entire team for their outstanding league performance and also thanked the three Mozambique-born imports Lonica Vasco, Daniel Cidalia and Ines Celestino, who made a remarkable contribution to their success. Meanwhile, Manzini Wanderers were the first team to represent Eswatini in  the CAF Women’s Champions League after being declared champions of the 2019/2020 EWFL, that was cut short following the outbreak of COVID-19. However, they made an early exit in the group stages.
