NO SIGNING-ON FEES FOR MKHWELI, ‘PAPI’

MBABANE – It’s a team of stars with good signing-on fees and salaries.

However, it has come out that there is some unrest within the Inkunz’emnyama camp due to badmouthing each other, especially when it came to presenting facts to the team’s South African Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe.  Besides team selection issues as there are 27 registered players, almost all quality with two or three fringe players, money matters are said to be causing disharmony among the players as not everyone received a signing-on fee.

These include top names like regular midfielder Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze and new signing in experienced left back Sanele Mkhweli. Both these stars are said to have not received any signing-on fees when they put pen to paper for this season. This is also despite that Papi had been a loyal servant in the previous season as they finished fourth in the log standings only to be placed at fifth by the head-to-head rule despite a better goal advantage to their rivals this weekend.

“There’s quite a lot that is not right because of some of us as officials. We are killing the team through mismanagement as shown by the Mkhweli and Papi cases. These two were given six-month contracts that may come back to haunt us and Mkhweli despite being new and has fit in like a hand in glove in the starting line up,” said an impeccable source.

The source said while Mkhweli seemed to have accepted the situation because ‘even his signing with us’ was not easy as some felt he was not well disciplined, it still did not mean he does not want a signing-on fee because he has debts to pay. As for Papi, the midfielder missed last week’s game against Denver Sundowns after reporting he had personal challenges to attend to while their troublesome young midfielder Lindani ‘Rio’ Matsenjwa also did not pitch after a stellar performance against rookies Rangers during the weekend.

“We need all of these players as a team and for them not to get signing-on fees because we spoke badly about them to the director before they signed is not good for us and it can easily divide the squad that already competes for places in the starting line-up for games,” said another source within the club’s structures.
