MBABANE – Eswatini will face Group A’s highest-ranked team, Uganda, in their third match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 Sub-Regional World Cup qualifier in Rwanda, Kigali.

The match kicks-off at 1:50pm. Uganda are on top of the rankings chart in Group A, sitting at number 29, while Eswatini, ranked 84, is fourth on the table behind Malawi on 59, Ghana ranked 65 and the hosts ranked 77. Lesotho falls behind Eswatini as they were ranked number 86 while Seychelles was not ranked due to lack of international competition participation.

merciless

Eswatini’s test escalates today when they lock horns with the merciless Uganda Coach Laurence Mahatlane’s squad, who beat Malawi by 10 wickets with 54 balls remaining in their opener, setting the records straight regardless of the brotherhood existing between the latter and Malawi’s coach Arjun Menon. Uganda won by 106 runs against Rwanda and will be targeting a third victory against Eswatini.

Coach Naeem Gull’s squad will have to dig deeper to regroup and fight for what would be a hard-earned victory against the challengers. With only one win in the bag, beating Lesotho by 52 runs and going down by eight wickets to Malawi, losing to the Ugandan’s would be a plight for disappointment in these tightly contested world cup qualifiers.

As much as the experience and exposure is necessary, all-rounder Siphesihle Kubheka, in unison with the team promised to make the country proud through positive results and not regret a waste of the much needed resources. Eswatini will play a double fixture tomorrow, clashing with Ghana at 9:30am, then wrap up the day with a confrontation against Seychelles.
